Chimney Inspections and Sweeps

The NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) recommends an annual inspection of all chimneys, fireplaces, and wood burning stoves. In accordance with this recommendation, they should be inspected by a CSIA (Chimney Safety Institute of America) certified chimney professional and swept as required. Each year unsafe chimneys cause significant numbers of injuries and deaths, and account for over 200 million in property losses.

Learn More About Our Process

A small crack in your liner can cause products of combustion to enter parts of your home that are not intended for them. They can cause carbon monoxide poisoning known as the silent killer, as well as causing a house fire. As a homeowner you want to know your system is ready to safely burn all winter long so you and your family can enjoy making all those great memories around a cozy fire.

Testing a chimney in Clarksville, TN

Your home is one of your largest investments but your family is your greatest asset and you want to keep them safe. Here at Chimney Commandos we will ensure you do just that! Our certified technician will text or call when they are enroute as well as give you an approximate time they will arrive. Once they arrive they will ask to be led to your fireplace, stove, or furnace and will begin the inspection process.

This will include putting down a large clean dropcloth to protect the surrounding areas during this process. Technician will use the sootblocker to cover the entirety of the firebox so that when sweeping all dust and debris will stay within the firebox not dusting out your living room or other area of your house. We use a high powered industry specific HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) vacuum that connects to the sootblocker so that it can work from within the confines of the firebox.

The technician will then begin to connect the amount of needed rods to a cordless power drill with what brush the job calls for and begin the sweeping process. They will start at the very top and work their way down. Once they are done sweeping we will clean out the firebox ensuring it as clean as possible and begin the next phase. We will utilize the Chimscan camera another industry specific camera which will be used to scan the entire system 360 degrees.

Homeowners are encouraged to view the live feed with the technician but is not required. Pictures will be taken of each section and included in the report which will be emailed to the homeowner. After the sweep and inspection of the firebox and flue is complete the technician will begin cleanup and taking stuff back to the trailer. Next with homeowners permission we will access the attic, basement, and roof to check the entirety of the system.

Any deficiencies will be brought to the homeowners attention and explained while going over the inspection report. At that point technician will recommend course of action and the pricing. Homeowners will decide if they would like to proceed with recommendations or not and technician will get them scheduled accordingly. We are not the Chimney Police, we can’t tell you that you cannot operate your system but due to liability reasons we will have you sign the report showing that you were informed about any deficiencies.
